“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And His name shall be called;
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6
Growing up, it wasn’t Christmas unless Amy Grant’s Emmanuel was blaring through the speakers, and mom was the one playing it at full volume! Amy’s version of Isaiah 9:6 is uplifting, upbeat and powerful. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did, and actually still do. Even today, it isn’t Christmas until Emmanuel is blaring through my earbuds.
Another favorite version of Isaiah 9:6 is also a classic. When I was in high school, we could earn extra credit for choir by attending a holiday concert and then turn the program in as proof. Every year my family would attend Handel’s Messiah: Hallelujah Chorus featuring “For unto us a child is born”. Let these voices fill your soul.
Hallelujah Chorus.
Now granted, Isaiah 9:6 isn’t included in this song, but is does go hand in hand.
For Unto us….
Handel’s version of Isaiah 9:6 is exquisite, powerful and classical.
