“For since the creation of the world, His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they (we) are without excuse.” Romans 1:20
God’s word is jam packed with treasures of hope, knowledge, wisdom and love. The only way for us to find them is by reading His word as often as we can, and listening. I have read through the bible three times now and this last journey I read the books in alphabetical order. I found so many biblical applications to daily life that I have to share them. God is amazing in that what I learned from these passages, I’ll bet you get something completely different out of it. Take this journey with me. We’ll start in the book of Acts and finish in Revelation. I’d be interested to know if you get something different from the devotion than I did.
The key to knowing God’s word and applying it to your day and life is, well, first of all to read it, but also memorize it. Verses give us strength to conquer the enemy, comfort us in times of sorrow, they are perfect little nuggets of encouragement for friends and they give us peace and best of all, hope. In this section you will find all the verses of the day (well, not every day) that have stood out to me during my times of reading. So much hope and so many promises. It is my prayer that you find peace and comfort and can apply at least one of the verses to your life.
God perfectly created our bodies and He provided food and water to nourish and sustain us. Our bodies can still function for about a week without food, but only a few days without water. How long do you think your soul can survive without God? Daily Survival Items is designed to nourish your soul on a daily basis from the everyday items you use, and sometimes the foods you eat. Not only can you find God in His word, you can find Him in your kitchen, on your desk, out on your walk and even in your car. God can be ever present while snacking on your favorite junk food. He wants to be found by you, He hides Himself in the simple things. Take my hand and and let’s go find the God of the universe in our homes.
If you are a believer, then you know that God created everything you see around you and when He created it, He saw that it was good! (Genesis chapter 1). The beauty and uniqueness of the colors and designs He chose are truly a sight to see. Let me ask you this, have you ever seen an object magnified 1000x? Well, here in God’s Goodness I have done just that, okay maybe not 1000x magnification, but I have gotten very up close and personal and what you get to do here is guess what I took a picture of. God made everything good and perfect, so let’s go take a look!
The bible tells us that there is one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. He is everywhere, around us. The bible also tells us He is a jealous God and I beleive He only wants the best for us, and He expects the best of us, however in order to achieve that, we need to give Him our undivided attention. But I believe God has a sense of humor and that is one way of getting our attention. There are things around us that make us laugh and people that make us smile. Additionals is here to point out those very things. It’s a little more on the personal side of things; family, friends, traditions and some things I have found humorous along the way. Come with me and let’s laugh together.
Cooking has always been an interest for me. When I was young, I remember sitting at the breakfast bar and I’d watch my mom prepare dinner. I was fancinated by the way she made gravy….old school. So I do love to cook, but I am not one of those people that can pull a delicious, savory meal out of thin air. I can, however, take that savory meal and change it up a bit and create something new, different, sometimes healthy and thankfully still delicious. Recipe change ups is my way of sharing with you some of those fun, creative changes I’ve made to some of our favorite recipes. So hop up on the breakfast bar stool and let me show you how I cook.
Songs
God’s spoken words, sung by man.
Childhood camp songs, today’s church hymns and that favorite song on the radio. Did you know the majority of those songs you sang, still sing and hear today can be found in the bible? Not only does God’s word inspire and encourage us in our daily lives, it has inspired people to write them into the songs we sang at camp, sing in church, and even sing along with in the car. When we sing these songs that are also bible verses, we are singing God’s praise.
