Daily Survival Item #1 ~ God sized candles
“This Little Light of Mine, I’m gonna let it shine……”
come on, sing it with me,
I know you know the words. 🙂
One of our favorite childhood songs. We all sang it at camp and/or Sunday School, or maybe mom just sang it with you while tucking you in to bed for the night. Maybe you sing it to your little ones at night. What ever the case may be, we all know the song.
Now I’ve always only knew of three verses to that song, and they are;
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine;
Hide it under a bush, OH NO!, I’m gonna let it shine;
Don’t let Satan ~~~ it out, I’m gonna let it shine, (okay, now here is where it gets tricky, in the song you blow at your finger as though you are blowing out a candle, so how do you spell out the action of forcing air out of your puckered lips?)
Well, anyway, Don’t let Satan blow it out, I’m gonna let it shine….
If you remember other verses to this simple, familiar, favorite childhood song, please please please, do share.
So, seeing life sized or better yet, God sized candles like this, it made it so easy to invited the Lord to be a part of my day. Not only did He bring to mind a favorite childhood song, which I sang off and on throughout the day by the way, He also brought to mind Matthew 5:14-16 which states:
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp, and put it under the peck-measure (or a basket), but on a lampstand; and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven”
God’s goodness showed itself that day in those life sized candlesticks. He is out there for us to see Him and this is where I found Him on that day. So the next time you just see a candle burning, remember, in Jesus, YOU are the light of the world. How will you let your light shine?
