When I first heard the word tenets, I thought the person was talking about someone who rents a room or an apartment. So as the conversation continued, it became painfully clear that I had misunderstood the word completely. A tenet, is a mind set or behavior that Taekwondo students develop throughout their training. They are disciplines you choose to apply to your life on a daily basis. And goals can be met. These Tenets are:
- Courtesy = polite behavior; consideration for others
- Integrity = veracity; adherence to a code or standard of value
- Perseverance = steady persistence in adhering to a course of action
- Self-Control = controlled behavior resulting from discipline
- Indomitable Spirit = courageous, valiant; unconquerable
Tayler has been applying these five tenets to her life for over four years now and as a proud mama, I have to say, I believe it is paying off! In class this past Monday, (3/25/19) she received her brown belt. With only two belts to go, her black belt finish line journey continues.
Make sure you subscribe so you will receive updates on this journey of Tayler’s. There is more to come on with her sports competitions. Updates with gymnastics are coming very soon plus we will have a special tribute to a fellow athlete and friend in Tayler’s gymnastics group. Make sure you don’t miss out on that story.
